Summary
The International Telecommunication Union will be completing its 100 years of fruitful existence on 17th May 1965. The Union was formed to develop international cooperation in the use of telecommunications of all kinds and to improve efficiency on an accepted basis all over the world. The Union formulates International Telegraph, Telephone and Radio regulations and tries to maintain a certain standard of uniformity of operating procedures. It promotes the adoption of measures for safety of life and disseminates useful information on telecommunication matters
