Summary
International aspects of all classes of telecommunications are dealt with by the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) and its consultative committees, the CCIR (radio) and CCITT (telegraph and telephone). Over the past few years considerable discussions have taken place in these bodies on the standards for television and particularly on the requirements for the point-to-point transmission of television signals over long distances. A recommendation on the latter subject has recently been adopted by the CCIR and forms a useful basis for the design of microwave and coaxial-cable television relay links.
